Get to know one of Ingot’s two directors, Dan Webster, who can talk endlessly about web design, development and digital marketing, not to mention coffee! Dan answers a couple of questions for us.

How long have you been in business?
My business partner, James, and I started Ingot November 2017.

How many people are in your team?
Two directors and a graphic designer we’ve just brought onboard.

How did you end up doing what you’re doing?
I love creative design. No experience, no degree. It’s no wonder why no one would hire me. So I created my own job.

How long have you been a Panama resident?
I’m pretty sure I was the first paying resident at Panama House. I left after several months and now I’ve returned to a desk at Panama Square.

Favourite co-working perk?
Office banter and a variety of awesome spaces.

What is your favourite kind of work/ project?
A web project where the client values creativity and uniqueness as much as we do.

Favourite place to holiday?
Japan. Steeped in history, there’s this veil of cleanliness and routine covering a host of absolutely crazy subcultures. Car culture? Nuts. Coffee culture? Epic. Comic or fashion culture? Crazy. So much to see and learn.

What was your first *proper* job?
Fry Chef at Mcdonalds. Told them I’d quit if they didn’t move me to McCafe. They very graciously agreed.

If you had to change industry, what job would you choose?
Coffee blogging or reviewing cafes. I’d probably also be homeless and moneyless.

Any recommended reads?
Scramble - Marty Neumeier.

What do you love most about Hamilton?
It’s a baby bear porridge town. Not too big, not too oversaturated, not too cliquey. It’s just right.

Where do you go for Saturday brunch?
Grey St Kitchen. For the coffee. But Ash does good things in the kitchen too.

Do you have any hidden talents?
A magician never shares his secrets.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?
As long as I get at least 7hrs sleep crammed in there somewhere, along with a coffee in one hand and food in the other, I’m pretty genial.

Someone who inspires you?
Chris Do, an award winning designer in his own right, but super focused on the education side too. He’s got a passion for teaching people how to do what they love, and I respect that.
